While only 18 years-old, Juan has a passion for horses and big challenges. Juan has been fortunate to represent Spain in major events all across the world while enjoying Wellington, Florida as his base of operations with his father, who was the reserve rider for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

“I’ve been using Ecogold dressage saddle pads for the past three years and have been completely pleased with their fantastic performance,” said Juan. “They provide stability, breathable textiles that are non-sweat, non-rubbing and provide a very athletic look. To be a part of the Ecogold family is a huge privilege.”

While Juan has several horses in his program, his top international horses include Don Diego Ymas, Dhannie Ymas, and Quantico Ymas. Don Diego Ymas, a 13 year-old Hanoverian, is the mount that Juan is hoping to take to the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Together, Juan and Don Diego Ymas have had a successful winter at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), where they placed third and fourth in the CDI 4* Grand Prix Freestyle. Additionally, Juan and Don Diego Ymas earned the silver medal in the 2014 Nations Cup in Wellington Florida and 3rd place in Aachen for their U25 CDI. In 2015, Juan and Don Diego Ymas earned a 5th place finish in the Spanish National Championships.

Dhannie Ymas, a 9 year-old Hanoverian, helped Juan make history by being the first Spanish rider to win the individual freestyle gold medal at the 2015 European Junior Riders Championships in Vidauban, France. Dhannie Ymas and Juan also won the Florida Youth Championships in the Young Rider division at WEF. Quantico Ymas, a 10 year-old Hanoverian, is Juan’s up-and-coming Grand Prix horse who made his international debut this year.

Despite a long list of accolades, Juan is a dedicated young professional who is working his way towards representing Spain at the Olympics and building a bright future for himself. Inside and outside of the ring, Juan is the type of rider who values his horses, acts as an inspiration to others, and works hard for his successes. Ecogold is thrilled to add Juan Matute Guimón to their Professional Rider team.
