Built by a Textile Engineer

Ecogold was founded by John Da Silva, a textile engineer with decades of experience designing technical performance fabrics.

Rather than adapting traditional saddle pads, John approached the challenge like an engineer—studying movement, friction, pressure distribution, moisture management, and impact protection.

His innovations helped introduce new standards in saddle pad design, including the distinctive cross-country pad shape that reduced heat retention and improved comfort for event horses.

That engineering mindset continues to influence every Ecogold product today.

A family business since 1990

Today, Ecogold is led by Patricia Da Silva, continuing the family’s commitment to innovation, quality, and horse welfare.

As a second-generation manufacturer, Patricia combines decades of textile expertise with a modern understanding of rider needs, ensuring every new product balances technical performance with everyday practicality.

Unlike companies that outsource design and manufacturing, Ecogold develops and manufactures its products in-house, allowing continuous testing, refinement, and quality control.

Made in Montreal, Canada

Every Ecogold saddle pad is handcrafted in our Montreal workshop.

Keeping production in Canada allows us to oversee every stage of manufacturing, maintain strict quality standards, and continuously improve our products based on rider feedback.

It’s a slower approach than mass production but we believe horses deserve equipment made with care, not shortcuts.
